COURSE SERIES “LEBEN IN BAYERN” ("LIVING IN BAVARIA”)

How does everyday life in Bavaria work? How do we want to live together? What are the values behind this? What is important for our peaceful coexistence?

It is not easy to find one's way in everyday life and society in a new country. The course series "Living in Bavaria" is an offer of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, for sport and integration for people with a migration background who are entitled to stay permanently, asylum seekers with good prospects of finding a place to stay and people who are in possession of an employment toleration certificate according to § 60d of the Residence Act.

The aim of the course is to provide participants with practical help for their life in Bavaria and to get to know our way of life. In addition to the courses in the areas of "Living together", "Education and upbringing" and "Health", activities are also offered to discover the culture, values and everyday life in Bavaria.

The next module will take place from 14.09.2020 at our premises in Kolbornstraße 10, 63739 Aschaffenburg.

FATHERSCHOOLS [Project paused]

The fathers were supervised and taught in the "FatherSchools" by teachers trained by Women without Borders over a period of 8 weeks. They were strengthened in their parenting skills and received structural and emotional support.

The aim was to enable the fathers to recognize early on any possible danger to their children from extremist or radical religious organizations and to prevent a turn to violence and a departure from our free democratic basic order. The fathers learned to understand the mechanisms of radicalization and to develop strategies for action to prevent recruitment attempts. Furthermore, the teachers strengthened the participants' self-confidence and self-esteem.

Through education, knowledge and the application of the strategies for action learned, fathers should be able to protect their children from extremist ideologies in the difficult phase of growing up. In the "FatherSchools" the fathers learned how to build up or strengthen the close emotional relationship with their children, so that they can influence their children's decisions, such as turning away from extremism. This project thus forms the basis for holistic prevention work.

Elterntalk

ELTERNTALK

ELTERNTALK offers moderated discussion groups for parents on the topics of media consumption, addiction prevention and healthy growing up in the family.

ELTERNTALK is aimed at all parents with children up to 14 years of age. At ELTERNTALK, parents receive support in coping with their everyday educational routine.

Parents are the main actors in this. They meet in private discussion groups with approx. 4-8 parents, who are accompanied by a trained moderator, themselves mother or father. In advance, a common topic is agreed upon and current information material is selected.

You can find out exactly how ELTERNTALK works in our short film about ELTERNTALK.

KOMPASS-TREFF [“compass meeting“]

An interesting topic is prepared for each event with expert speakers. After the presentation, there will also be an opportunity for discussion and exchange with the speakers and project leaders. The aim is to report on one's own experiences, to anchor the knowledge in an applicable way and to lead an open discourse. The meeting is informative, interesting and entertaining for the participants. There is communication with the participants at eye level.

Since orientation in a foreign system with a foreign language requires more than an orientation module in an integration course, this project provides a platform for interested immigrants to further their knowledge. The added value is created at various levels.

The individual can grow thanks to increasing understanding, since it is encouraged to live more self-determined and better networked in Aschaffenburg. This increases the identification potential, the problem-solving competence and the probability that well-informed (former) participants of the Kompass-Treffen will act as multipliers in their respective social and family frame of reference.

The urban society and institutions can achieve added value through a continued high level of social peace and understanding in the urban community by means of an increased common basic understanding of processes and regulations. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

MIA - MAMA IST AKTIV [Project paused]

The strengthening of social competence serves as the basis and prerequisite for successful conflict resolution. The focus was on developing new possible action competences in dealing with violence, learning new and positive behavioral patterns and increasing impulse control among the participants. Alternatives were pointed out and preventive measures were learned. The joint, guided exchange was able to identify areas in which socialized behavior and reaction can be changed step by step. By passing on this knowledge to their family or circle of friends and acquaintances, a comprehensive effect can be created. Thus a possible spiral of violence can be stopped.

During the term of the project, the networking of the women among each other and the positive integration (in the sense of inclusion, integration into a larger whole; in this case, the city and district of Aschaffenburg) was aimed at. In this way, the participants also got to know different professional counseling facilities and projects in the field of education and upbringing (see network partners). During the course, the responsible contact persons spoke about their family support services and answered the group-specific questions of the participating mothers.

Within the framework of the MIA project, a total of 21 mothers were reached in Aschaffenburg. Our efforts to sensitize the mothers with regard to violence prevention and how to deal with it in communication and reflection were strengthened by our success.

MOTHERSCHOOLS ASCHAFFENBURG [Project Completed]

Since May 2017 the project "MotherSchools" exists in Aschaffenburg. In 2017, the internationally recognized best practice model was piloted for the first time at four locations in Lower Franconia. Financed by the Bavarian State Ministry of Labor, Family and Social Affairs, "MotherSchools" were implemented in Aschaffenburg, Erlenbach, Schweinfurt and Würzburg with teachers and notetakers (protocol assistants) trained by Women without Borders.

The project was successfully carried out and implemented in Aschaffenburg from May 15, 2017 to December 31, 2019 under the leadership of Ms. Cigdem Deniz and her team.
